The passive-aggressiveness of Starville has officially begun. Most, if not every, small southern town has this issue. No judgment. Just a cultural thing. Like burkas.
The trick that I need to learn is not to say anything about it. There is a temptation to say, OK, I'll play along. The correct thing to do is to just play along and take the soul-killing hits in silence.
